Royal River Community Players (RRCP) is once again teaming up with the Yarmouth Historical Society to present Stroll Haunted Yarmouth, one of Yarmouth’s favorite fall traditions. For the seventh consecutive year, residents and visitors will be treated to a walking tour of the historic Hillside Cemetery that combines carefully researched tales from Yarmouth’s history with a little spooky, spine-tingling fun. Participants can expect an unforgettable journey through Yarmouth’s past with a series of short performances at various historically significant locations, each shedding light on the lives, mysteries, and perhaps even the ghosts of the town’s storied past.

From the Director
When I walked through the Royal River Community Players playhouse doors back in August, I was the new kid in town. I understood Stroll Haunted Yarmouth to be a labor of love, a theatrical experience designed to celebrate storytelling, legacy and the determination of Mainers. I walked in a bit nervous, simply because I had a lot to learn and I wanted to be certain that I was moving through the creative process respectfully. I felt a real responsibility to uphold the integrity that has been solidified over the past seven years. I also wanted to offer something fresh and innovative. From leadership, to cast, to families, I was met with palpable compassion, curiosity and the permission to take SHY wherever I wanted it to go. I felt a sense of trust, and the feeling was (and continues to be) entirely mutual. While SHY beautifully captures the history of Yarmouth, it also speaks to something even more profound - the community’s heart. It became abundantly clear that this would be the most important aspect to capture. Thus, it became my mission to find the heart of each moment throughout the production. I am proud to say, I believe that is what we’ve achieved with SHY 2024. As an audience member, you will experience familiar scaffolding: the stroll itself, the structure of the production, the storytelling and a bit of mystery. You will also experience something unique to this moment: the tone, the dynamics, the magic and the heart.
I did not do this alone. My wholehearted gratitude goes out to my creative team (my Sanderson sisters), Audra Reed and Whitney Brown. We found SHY’s heart together, and I cannot thank you both enough for all of your work, insights, support and trust in me. Thank you to Timmy, Mars and Rory for bringing your creativity, enthusiasm and for helping this production to shine. Thank you to our fabulous costuming team of Cassie and Emma - everyone looks authentic and sensational! Thank you to Melina and the RRCP board of directors for the strong foundation on which we were able to build SHY 2024. Thank you to Chris for being our champion and our rock. You are the reason I am now a part of RRCP, and I appreciate you so very much. Thank you to the cast of scene actors and tour guides for sharing your talents, time and hearts. You truly brought SHY to life! Thank you to the families who have supported our cast byway of scheduling, rides to and from rehearsals, volunteering time to support the production and for graciously providing us the space to create. Thank you to Yarmouth Historical Society for your guidance and knowledge. Thank you to our sponsors for providing the necessary resources to produce SHY. Finally, thank you to the community of Yarmouth, past and present, for opening your hearts to us. We hope SHY 2024 serves as a reiteration of our respect, integrity and love. Enjoy the stroll!
Sincerely,
Tommy Waltz
