This fresh, musical adaptation of Charlotte's Web adds a vibrant layer to E.B. White's cherished tale, featuring songs and lyrics by Charles Strouse (known for Annie and 'Bye, 'Bye Birdie) and a script by the nationally acclaimed children's playwright Joseph Robinette. With a diverse cast ranging from 7-year-olds to adults, the production promises enjoyment for audiences of all ages. While the story explores themes of change and loss, it avoids depicting any explicit acts of killing or violence on stage. The show runs around 2 hours and includes a 15-minute intermission.

From the Executive Director
Hello and welcome to our staging of Charlotte's Web. This cherished tale has won the hearts of readers for many generations, and bringing it to life on stage has been a deeply fulfilling experience for everyone involved. This show is meaningful to us because of its connection to Maine. E.B. White, who lived on a farm in Brooklin, Maine, drew inspiration from real animals when he wrote Charlotte's Web.
This story delves into themes like love, friendship, adapting to change, and the reality of loss. When we decided to produce this play, we believed these themes would resonate with audiences of all ages. As a father of two young kids, I find that friendship, change, and even loss come up often at our dinner table. Children naturally have a lot of questions about these aspects of life. I think E.B. White’s story has remained a favorite for so long because it handles these topics gently but in a way that genuinely connects with people of all ages. This story speaks to kids without talking down to them.
As we worked on this play, our goal was to honor the heart of E.B. White's classic tale while crafting an engaging and heartfelt experience for you, our audience. The cast and crew have given their all to this production, and their dedication is evident in every scene. It has been a delight to see these characters grow and watch the story come to life with humor, warmth, and sincerity.
Thank you for coming out to support your friends and family members in the cast and for joining us on this journey. We hope you find yourself moved by the characters' experiences and the lessons they learn along the way. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
Sincerely,
Chris Sullivan, Executive Director
